The AnimeGoji (アニメゴジ,   AnimeGoji) is the Godzilla design used in the 2017 Godzilla film, GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters.

Name

The AnimeGoji's name comes from anime (アニメ) and Goji, which comes from Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ). The alternate name for this design, WakuseiGoji (惑星ゴジ), comes from wakusei (惑星), meaning "planet," which comes from the Japanese title for GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters, Gojira Kaijū Wakusei (GODZILLA -怪獣惑星-), and again Goji, which comes from Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ).

Detail

The AnimeGoji design has so far only been shown on a poster for GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters. The AnimeGoji appears to closely resemble the LegendaryGoji, with a bulky body, a thick and short neck, large arms, jagged triangular dorsal plates, and a crocodile-like head with a relatively long snout. The biggest difference between this design and the LegendaryGoji is the appearance of his dorsal plates, which resemble a combination of the LegendaryGoji's plates and Godzilla's traditional maple-leaf shaped plates.

According to the film's executive producer Yoshihiro Furusawa, this Godzilla has grown as a result of ruling over Earth's ecosystem for 20,000 years, and is the tallest onscreen incarnation of the character to date, even exceeding the size of Shin Godzilla.[1]
