Gamera the Giant Monster 1: Gamera (大怪獣ガメラ1 伝説の巨大モンスター大出現!!の巻 is a Daikaijū Gamera Wan: Densetsu no Kyodai Monsutā Daishutsugen!! no Maki, lit. "Gamera the Giant Monster 1: The Legendary Giant Monster Appears!!")1995 manga adaptation of the 1965 film Gamera the Giant Monster created by Tadashi Makimura. The first installment in a series of adaptations based on the Showa Gamera films, it was published by Tokuma Shoten as part of their Shonen Captain Comics line.
Plot
A nuclear explosion in the Arctic awakens a gigantic turtle monster dubbed Gamera, who destroys a ship before departing. Gamera later arrives in Hokkaido and saves a young boy's life before rampaging though Tokyo, with the JSDF helpless to stop him. Eventually, officials propose Z-Plan, which involves trapping Gamera within a large rocket and sending it to Mars. The plan ultimately proves a success and Gamera is ejected from the planet.
