Hiroshima
Hiroshima (広島市 is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, and the largest city in the Chūgoku region of western Honshu, the largest island of Hiroshima-shi)Japan. It is best known as the first city in history to be targeted by a nuclear weapon when the United States Army Air Forces' (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress dropped an atomic bomb called "Little Boy" on the city at 8:16 a.m. on August 6, 1945, near the end of World War II, killing 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima.

Godzilla: Awakening
In the graphic novel Godzilla: Awakening, Ishiro Serizawa's father was present in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and survived the bombing. The bombing also awakened the monster Shinomura.
Trivia
- The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki inspired Ishiro Honda when making the original Godzilla. Honda, who witnessed the devastation of the bomb, wanted to portray the same destruction caused by an atomic bomb through Godzilla's rampage.
