Development

IDW Publishing, famous for making comics based on Transformers and other licensed properties, teamed up with Toho Company Ltd. to produce new Godzilla comics staring in March 2011 titled Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters.

Early solicitations advertised the series as "Godzilla: Monster World," even showing that name on images of the first cover. The name was changed before publication.
