Godzilla King of the Monsters: Monster Island Unleashed was a promotional comic by Trendmasters included with their Godzilla action figures.

Plot

On Monster Island in the South Pacific, the Genco corporation is attempting to combine monster DNA with a Godzilla egg they've discovered in order to create a bio-weapon that they can sell to the highest bidder. Suddenly, Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra appear and begin destroying the company's vehicles. Sensing the egg is in danger, the monsters journey to New York City.

At Genco headquarters, the CEO orders Mecha-King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla to be released, hoping to impede the arrival of the other monsters. Off of Long Island, Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra battle the might of the U.S. Military. Godzilla is slowed, but makes short work of the ships and aircraft and lands in Battery Park, heading for the Genco building. In the heart of Times Square, Godzilla is ambushed by Mecha-King Ghidorah who unleashes its G-Grasper cables on the atomic titan. Meanwhile, Rodan combats the G-FORCE's Garuda warship and defeats it effortlessly. Mechagodzilla suddenly appears and begins attacking Godzilla, still locked in the G-Grasper. The G-FORCE operatives report the situation as being under control shortly before Godzilla tears free of his bindings. Picking up his robotic duplicate, Godzilla slams Mechagodzilla into Mecha-King Ghidorah, destroying both machines. Making his way towards the Genco building, Godzilla swipes the roof off with his claw and grabs the egg. The CEO screams in horror as Godzilla destroys the rest of the building with his atomic breath.

Having thwarted the Genco corporation's plans to upset the balance of nature, Godzilla and his monster comrades return home to Monster Island with the egg in safe hands.

Trivia

  • This comic marks the first appearances of any non-Godzilla Toho kaiju to appear in an American comic book.
  • Unsurprisingly, the designs for the kaiju featured in this comic are based off their respective designs from Trendmasters' toy line.
  • The main human antagonist, the Genco corporation, is never mentioned in any of the storyline material for Trendmasters' Godzilla toy line. This comic is their only fictional appearance.
