Major Samantha Tagger is a protagonist in IDW Publishing's 2011 comic series Godzilla: Legends in it's Anguirus based story, Underdog.

Underdog
Tagger worked at the Zone 8 Kaiju Defense Force Research Facility, and was part of the team overseeing development of a device designed to attract Godzilla. One day, Destoroyah attacked the base, and the G-Signaler was ineffective. Tagger, Brian Anders, and Colonel Matsumiya then fled the facility. On the way out, some debris fell on Matsumiya, and he ordered Tagger and Anders to leave him. When they got outside, they discovered that his frequency had attracted Anguirus. Anders then explained to Samantha that Anguirus was of no use to them, as he had lost every battle he had fought on record. Tagger than took Brian into the last plane on the base and began to fire on Destoroyah, whom she believed to be bullying the weaker monster, whose courage she admired. This only took its attention from Anguirus and put it on their plane. Brian then informed Tagger that they could stop Destoroyah by freezing it with Freon stored in tanks on the base, and confessed that his device was built to repel monsters not attract them. Matsumiya then came on the radio to carry out Anders' plan for the Freon tanks with the tow cable on his helicopter. Destoroyah was then frozen, and when it thawed it returned to the ocean. Matsumiya then congratulated Brian on creating a device to repel kaiju. Tagger revealed to Andes that she had always known that he was lying about his device, because he talked in his sleep. As Anguirus swam out into the ocean, Godzilla appeared and passed up Anguirus to attack the base.
