"A Tragic Dissonance" (哀 (かな)しみのディソナンスの巻 (まき),   Kanashimi no Disonansu no Maki) is the 12th episode of the second season of Godziban, as well as the 33rd episode overall and the first installment of its Young Serizawa segment. Toho's Godzilla Channel uploaded it to YouTube on August 1, 2020, with an English-subtitled version on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO channel following on April 15, 2022.

Plot

Young Serizawa awakens to find himself shipwrecked on Godzi Godzi Island, having run away from a society eager to praise him for his dangerous inventions. When he ventures into the jungle, he is fascinated to witness Anguirus, Gorosaurus, and Baragon congregating. The three monsters discuss their unusual lack of dialogue via speech bubbles. He runs away when Godzilla-kun approaches him, only to run into Little and Minilla. The Three Godzilla Brothers finally stop Young Serizawa and introduce themselves, demonstrating that they meant no harm and they rescued him from his ship. Serizawa asks if they were dinosaurs, to which Godzilla-kun replies that they are kaiju. Minilla offers Serizawa a banana, which he accepts and eats. The Three Godzilla Brothers then begin building a house for Serizawa out of logs. Together, they move Serizawa's scientific equipment into his new home. As Minilla carries Serizawa's invention, the Oxygen Destroyer, he nearly drops it, only for Little to catch it, with both him and Godzilla-kun becoming curious about exactly what it is. Godzilla-kun then places Oxygen Destroyer against a wall in Serizawa's house. Serizawa thanks the Three Godzilla Brothers and prepares to begin a new life on the island.

Grandpa Zilla emerges behind a hill wondering whether luck or misfortune will befall the boy, and Grandpa Hedo makes the same comment before Young Hedo points out that Grandpa Zilla just said the same thing.

Trivia

• Serizawa's ship is called the Eiko, referencing the fishing boat Godzilla destroys at the beginning of his debut film.
• Grandpa Zilla's appearance pays homage to the scene in the original Godzilla where the monster's head emerges from behind a hill on Odo Island.
