Aburasumashi

Aburasumashi (油すまし) is a kind of Japanese folklore creature which appeared in the 1968 tokusatsu films, Yokai Monsters: One Hundred Monsters and Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare and the 2005 film, The Great Yokai War.
Design
Aburasumashi is a short humanoid in straw clothing with a staff and an over-sized green head.
History

Yokai Monsters: One Hundred Monsters
The Aburasumashi is seen dancing in the crowd of yokai as they marched out of a castle.
Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare
In this film, Aburasumashi has an important role and is one of the protagonists. He helps battle Daimon but is defeated. Later he becomes a member of the Spirit Army and kills Daimon by stabbing his right eye after the Kakasa lifted him up.
Millennium era
The Great Yokai War
Aburasumashi is one of the Yokai that gathered to discuss the threat to their species. Despite hearing all the reasons to fight for yokai, the Aburasumashi leaves. It does, however, return later when the rumor of a 'massive party' was just so happening on the enemy's base and was one of the millions of yokai to show up. Due to the rowdy nature of Yokai, it started fighting anything that came near it.

In The Great Yokai War, the Aburasumashi could expand and deflate his head.

Trivia
- The original Showa Aburasumashi suit would be referenced numerous times in Rumiko Takahashi's series, Urusei Yatsura, as one of the characters, Cherry the Monk, resembled its facial features.
