Area G is the location in Antarctica where Godzilla fell into a crevice (made by an earthquake) during a battle with the Gotengo in the 1960's. It was then sealed and covered by a large containment facility manned by two lone men. Their purpose was to make sure that Godzilla stayed frozen. In 2004, A massive army of Xiliens attacked Earth with their hordes of controlled kaiju. Understanding the help Godzilla could provide, Douglas Gordon and his crew piloted the remodelled Gotengo to Area G, and set Godzilla free by melting the ice. Godzilla then clawed his way out of the containment facility, and onto the icy plains of Antarctica, where he began to follow the Gotengo on a journey which would take him across the world.
