Axor (アゾール,   Azōru) is a cobra kaiju created by Hanna-Barbera that appeared in the 1979 Godzilla episode, "The Beast of Storm Island."

History

When the Calico beaches on an atoll called Storm Island, Captain Majors, Doctor Darian, and Brock fall under the hypnotic control of the gigantic bipedal cobra-like kaiju known as Axor, who uses his slave ray to dominate the human population of the island. Axor gets this ability from vapors generated from the Lazarus Well in the monster's mountain lair.

Pete and Godzooky manage to escape from Axor and hide in its lair. They are exposed to the vapors, and the vapors enhance their physical abilities extraordinarily. With these new abilities, they escape from the pit, and Godzooky, now able to breathe fire rather than smoke, is powerful enough to hold his own in battle with Axor.

The power is temporary however, and Pete and Godzooky call Godzilla. Godzilla battles with Axor and is constantly having to avoid its beams. Godzilla turns part of a mountain into glass with his fire breath, and when Axor accidentally strikes the glass, the ray is reflected back at it. Due to that, Axor is destroyed, and both the island populace and the Calico crew are freed from their hypnosis.

Abilities

  • Axor can fire energy bolts from his mouth.
  • Axor can fire a ray from his eyes that will turn any living thing it hits into his slave.
  • Axor can create hurricane like winds with the hole on his head.

Weaknesses

  • Axor is weak to its own slave ray.
