"Chibi Godzilla of Monster Island" (怪獣島のちびゴジラ,   Kaijū-tō no Chibi Gojira) is the first episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again. Written by Taketo Shinkai, it aired on Japanese television on April 1, 2023. An English-subtitled version followed on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel that April 11.

Plot

On the shores of Monster Island, Chibi Godzilla finds an unconscious Chibi Mechagodzilla washed up, who he awakens with a burning blue blast from his mouth. He explains it to be atomic breath rather than fire, and that it is said to be either 160,000 degrees, 500,000 degrees, or 180 degrees; Mechagodzilla concludes it is 180. Chibi Godzilla introduces himself as "Monster Island" and welcomes Mechagodzilla to "Chibi Godzilla," but corrects himself when Mechagodzilla points out that he has it backwards. Chibi Mechagodzilla introduces himself too, and asks if the island's name means that there are no humans on it. Chibi Godzilla gives pause at the word "human," leading Mechagodzilla to wonder if he's ever heard of them, before confidently proclaiming them to be:

  • 15 centimeters long
  • Narrow and crunchy
  • Rich in carotene
  • Extremely intelligent bipedal mammals

Frustrated by three out of the four facts being about carrots,[a] Mechagodzilla yells at him for a moment, but apologizes. He explains that he is a robot created by humans, which Chibi Godzilla thinks to mean the same as "air conditioner." The two are interrupted by the loud footsteps of Chibi Godzilla's father, the giant monster Godzilla, who is passing by in the distance. Chibi Godzilla calls out to him, but gets no response. He laments that Godzilla never hears him, and that he is so small that Godzilla will step on him if he gets too close or shatter his bones if he hugs him. However, he says that he dreams of one day becoming as big as his father so that he can finally hug him. Mechagodzilla tells him that he plans to help him achieve his goal while he is stranded on the island, and asks to be Chibi Godzilla's friend. Chibi Godzilla hesitates to accept, sending Mechagodzilla back into a rage.
