Chiharu Sakazaki (坂崎 千春,   Sakazaki Chiharu)[a] is a Japanese illustrator and children's book author. She is the designer of Chibi Godzilla and author and illustrator of the picture books starring the character.

Biography

Chiharu Sakazaki graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Design. She worked as a designer for a stationary maker production room. She has been active as a freelance illustrator since 1998, with her work appearing in picture books, magazines, advertisements, and other media. She is most famous for designing the Penguin mascot character that appears on the East Japan Railway Company's Suica tickets. In 2018 it was announced that Sakazaki was the designer of Toho's new Chibi Godzilla character and author and illustrator of the picture books based on the character.
