Dorola (ドロラ,   Dorora) is a genetically-altered Terror-Beast kaiju created by Toho that first appeared in episode 3 of the 1973 tokusatsu kaiju series Zone Fighter, titled "Strike! Garoga's Underground Base."

Design

Dorola is a bipedal reptilian kaiju who is bluish-gray in color. He has a long crab-like claw on one arm and a rose tentacle on the other. He has two lizard-like heads on opposite sides of his body, with orange eyes lacking features. He has two horns sticking out of the top of his head, and one sticking out of the top of his forehead.

Zone Fighter

"Strike! Garoga's Underground Base"

Instead of experimenting with machinery like they did Destro-King, for their third beast the Garogas decided to experiment with DNA. Dorola was the result of combining the DNA of a reptile and crab with a rose. Soon after deployment of Dorola, Zone Fighter appeared to save the day. Zone's attempt was short-lived however, after Dorola's toxic smog temporarily drained the hero of his powers. While Zone recovered, Zone Angel and Zone Junior stepped in before his power was regained. Zone grew once more to battle, but this time he would not be defeated. He quickly proved himself to the monster, slicing Dorola's arms clean off. Fearing death, the helpless monster began spraying his mist, fogging up the city. Zone used his Plasma Capsule to clear the blinding smog, leaving Dorola wide open. Zone finished off the monster with his Meteor Missile Might attack.

Abilities

Physical abilities

Dorola has a serrated crab claw on his left hand and was shown flailing it around during combat attempting to swipe at Zone Fighter. After leaving the hero gasping for air with his Fourth Dimensional Gas, Dorola kicked him repeatedly across the ground. Dorola's right arm is a rose tentacle; he used it to fight Zone Fighter by whipping and constricting the hero with it. At the tip of the tentacle is a flower that acts like a pair of teeth, clamping down on an opponent and allowing Dorola to better grasp them. Dorola later used the rose at the tip of his arm to bite down on Zone Fighter's face and pull him up, tugging him around before throwing him to the ground. Dorola's claw arm was shown to be very sharp, as after being severed by Zone Fighter, it was able to cut off the right arm cleanly. When "teleporting" around, Dorola hit Zone Fighter in the back and rammed into him.

Fourth Dimensional Gas

Dorola emit streams of gas from his mouth and can discharge a vast amount of reddish-pink mist from his mouth to shroud himself. This mist was not only able to hide a Garoga base from the 3rd dimension, but can also give an opponent the impression that Dorola is teleporting, which he exploited after having both of his arms cut off. He used this gas against Zone Fighter, causing the hero to get covered by red dust clinging to his body as well clutching at his throat gasping for air, even after the gas had dissipated, before collapsing to the ground. According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), this attack is called the Fourth Dimensional Gas (四次元ガス Shi-Jigen Gasu). "Strike! Garoga's Underground Base" and Toho Special Effects All Monster Encyclopedia both mention that the gas can make a Fourth Dimensional Net.

Vision

As noted in All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), due to the way Dorola's heads are placed, he is able to see a full 360 degrees.

Roar

Dorola uses edited roars from the Ultraseven kaiju Giradorus.
