"Explorer" (たたかいのおわり,   Tatakai no Owari, lit. "The Battle's End") is the twelfth episode of Godzilla Singular Point. Directed by Noriyuki Nomata, Nao Miyoshi, and Takuma Suzuki, it debuted on the Japanese Netflix on June 10, 2021, and on Japanese television June 17.

Plot

Yukie Kanoko looks over the ruins of Tokyo alongside Makita K. Nakagawa and compares it to Ekpyrosis, a great fire the Greeks believed would destroy the cosmos as the gods outgrew them, allowing them to start from scratch. In India, Bearach "BB" Byrne, Lina Byrne, Mei Kamino, and Pelops II arrive in the SHIVA facility, walking by the aftermath of an explosion caused by the complexity of the Super Dimension Calculator's first usage. BB explains that after the explosion, the calculator was left abandoned for 20 years until Li Guiying solved the problem that caused the explosion and used this new method to discover Archetype and the Orthogonal Diagnolizer. With this discovery, SHIVA began lifting the Singular Point within the calculator out of its pit to produce Archetype. BB determines through Mei's research that since the calculator receives answers from the future, the explosion was actually a preview of the Catastrophe predicted by Michiyuki Ashihara. He adds that Ashihara disappered following that explosion.

As Yun Arikawa, Goro Otaki, Haberu Kato, Shunya Sato and Jet Jaguar PP unload their truck, a strange moth lands on Jet Jaguar's finger. Jet Jaguar asks Yun if it will bite, but Yun reassures it the moth just wants to play. It soon flies away, leaving golden dust in its wake and saddening Jet Jaguar with its departure. As the kaiju and Red Dust cover increasingly large portions of the Earth, Colonel Yoshiyasu Matsubara and his troops observe a red plant mass which shares properties with the Red Dust, grows by absorbing it, causes buildings to collapse, and even appears to be distorting reality itself. During this discussion, Yukie and Makita arrive to deliver an Orthogonal Diagnolizer which can semi-permanently neutralize the Red Dust with a code that Mei is attempting to find. Makita relays Mei's suggestion to seek out Yun for help.

In India, BB and his group come across the dissolving red crystals created from his first usage of the Orthogonal Diagnolizer, which he explained used a code left over from Ashihara. The version deployed against Salunga above ground only modified the casing to make the effect more extreme, meaning the monster could escape its bindings at any moment. The group reaches a control room, where Pelops II opens the gates that once blocked Salunga's path to allow the continuation of their journey. Back in Tokyo, Haberu and Yun witness the red plants, which Yun refers to as an invasive species. Between the plants and Godzilla's continued evolution, they feel their victory is uncertain, though Goro loudly disagrees. Jet Jaguar notices a flock of Rodan chasing a convoy including Yushiyasu, Yukie, and Makita. It intervenes with the Spear of Anguirus, killing multiple Rodan until the remaining members of the flock retreat. At SHIVA, Tilda's head mercenary informs her of BB's shipping of Orthogonal Diagnolizers to seven countries, and that the crystals imprisoning Salunga have begun to dissolve. Underground, BB explains his plan: after finding the code, they'll secure outside communication and send the code to the operators of his Orthagonal Diagnolizers, destroying the Red Dust. Michael Steven will help them leave SHIVA again, this time out the front door as celebrated heroes. Afterwards, they can observe the Catastrophe as much as they want. The group approaches the Super Dimension Calculator, awed by the visible distortions in space around it. Pelops II rushes across the catwalk, but falls through a weak point in the floor and barely manages to save itself. Mei observes that the distortions have already intensified.

In Tokyo, Yun studies Yukie's Orthogonal Diagnolizer and comments that it will be simple to operate once the code is received, which he and Haberu believe will arrive in the message Mei will send them in four hours. Yushiyasu is reluctant to trust a prophecy and offers to hold onto the device until the code arrives, but Yun rejects the offer due to the possibility that the Catastrophe will also commence in four hours. Yushiyasu is equally skeptical that the Catastrophe is real, but trusts Otaki Factory enough to go along with the plan. However, he reveals that Godzilla has stopped at Tokyo Station, their initial destination, and has grown to 100 meters, making Godzilla himself the location indicated in the coordinates sent by Jet Jaguar. Yun believes this will work to their advantage, as the Orthogonal Diagnolizer will be most effective when detonated in a dense concentration of Red Dust.

At SHIVA, Pelops II accesses the Super Dimensional Calculator while BB attempts to find the code for the Orthogonal Diagnolizer. They're dismayed to find the number of potential codes exceeds 3 billion and grows even greater as the calculations continue. The Singular Point's distortion of space grows as well. The group realizes that the future is fluctuating and that Pelops II needs to cut off the calculation before the future diverges for it to be successful, but his progress is hindered and they begin investigating the problem. Meanwhile, Salunga breaks free of the Red Dust spears and marches towards SHIVA, unfazed by the Indian military, as Tilda prepares her only remaining Orthogonal Diagnolizer to fight it. Underground, BB finds that the Catastrophe is causing the divergence and could occur anywhere from 3 months to 3 hours from the present, much sooner than he anticipated. He admits that Mei was right, and questions whether the Catastrophe can be stopped with so little time. Just then, Pelops II returns, having viewed an image resembling countless eyes that matches with Ashihara's drawings. Pulling up Ashihara's research, Mei learns that he had been trying to stop the Catastrophe and asks Pelops II to find relevant pages, only for Pelops to diverge and the calculator to shut off. The calculator begins playing "ALAPU UPALA."

Otaki Factory works to attach a flight pack to Jet Jaguar. As they do so, more of the moths appear. Goro identifies them as silk moths, though their color is wrong. He utters a quotation—"The flight of the yellow butterfly is a sign of warfare"—before he, Yun, Haberu, Yushiyasu, and three trucks of soldiers set out for Godzilla. Deep within the plume of Red Dust, the monster roars.
