The GX-813 Universal Special Fighter Griffon was originally developed from the FX (Fighter Experimental) Class "New Fighter" jet model proposed by the J.S.D.F in 1997, but the concept was adopted by G-Grasper and it was changed in the concept stage under the circumstances of Godzilla's threat so it was changed to "GX" (Griffon Experimental). The first model was designated "GX-810", but after the 811 and 812, the fourth and final version "GX-813 Special Fighter Griffon" was finished by 2001.

The Griffon is first dispatched when Godzilla makes it's first sighting in three months and the crew scramble to the jet and make an immediate takeoff to survey the area. The Pilot, Seiichi Hosono goes to Vertical Flight hover-mode as Captain Kiriko Tsujimori and Second in Command Tomoharu Okumura take the Griffon's life raft. They find a dead Meganula and collect a sample but just as they finish, their Radio Operator Kazuo Mima informs them that sonar readings show that Godzilla is directly under their raft. Tsujimori orders Okumura pulled up to the Griffon and she equips a special radiation mask and fires a special transmitter bullet onto Godzilla's back. Tsujimori then orders that an SGS probe is launched from the Griffon to follow Godzilla.

Later, as the SGS showed that Godzilla is most likely to surface at Kiganjima, Griffon flew there and was accompanied by the Dragon Arrow squadron of Mitsubishi F-15J Jets and they lured Godzilla closer as "The G Extermination Strategy" was about to be put into effect. As the Dimension Tide had only 300 seconds countdown before firing, suddonly the Griffon is swarmed by Meganula and the Strategy is nearly put on hold as the flying creatures foul up the DT's lock-on software but Godzilla destroys the worst of the swarm. The Griffon flies to a safe distance as the Dimension Tide fires on Godzilla, but it only buried the creature underground and the Griffon retreated quickly as Godzilla shook off the Dimension Tide's faulty power.

After Godzilla had annihilated Megaguirus, the Dimension Tide was still affected by Megaguirus's high frequency waves and it's orbit has started to decay but the system is still running and has one last shot at Exterminating Godzilla. However the lock-on system can't reach Godzilla so Tsujimori abandons her comrades and rushes to pilot the Griffon alone, risking her life so it could lock-on to her and she will fly towards Godzilla at full speed so it would effectively fire at Godzilla. She ejects just in time as DT fires and Godzilla is nowhere to be seen. G-Grasper has it's greatest victory as they have finally managed to get rid of Godzilla... Or so they thought.

Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

The GX-813 Griffon was originally developed from the FX (Fighter Experimental) Class "New Fighter" jet model proposed by the JSDF in 1997, but the concept was adopted by G-Grasper and changed to "GX" (Griffon Experimental) in wake of the imminent threat of Godzilla. The first model was designated "GX-810," but after the 811 and 812, the fourth and final version "GX-813" was finished by 2001.

The Griffon was first dispatched upon the first sighting of Godzilla in three months. Its pilot, Seiichi Hosono, went to Vertical Flight hover-mode as Captain Kiriko Tsujimori and Second in Command Tomoharu Okumura took the Griffon's life raft. They found a dead Meganula and collected a sample, but just as they finished, their Radio Operator Kazuo Mima informed them that sonar readings showed Godzilla directly under their raft. Tsujimori ordered Okumura to pull up to the Griffon, equipping a special radiation mask and firing a special transmitter bullet onto Godzilla's back. Tsujimori then ordered that an SGS probe be launched from the Griffon to follow Godzilla.

Later, as the SGS showed that Godzilla was most likely to surface at Kiganjima, Griffon flew there and was accompanied by the Dragon Arrow squadron of Mitsubishi F-15J jets and they lured Godzilla closer as the "G Extermination Strategy" was about to be put into effect. As the Dimension Tide reached just 300 seconds left on its countdown before firing, the Griffon was suddenly swarmed by Meganula, putting the operation in jeopardy as the insect monsters fouled up the DT's lock-on software. Luckily, Godzilla destroyed the worst of the swarm, allowing the Griffon to fly to a safe distance. The Dimension Tide fired on Godzilla, but only managed to bury the creature underground. The Griffon quickly retreated as Godzilla reemerged.

After Godzilla had annihilated Megaguirus, the Dimension Tide was still affected by Megaguirus' high frequency waves, leaving it with one final shot at exterminating Godzilla. However, the weapon's targeting system was unable to lock onto Godzilla, leading Tsujimori to abandon her comrades and rush to pilot the Griffon alone. Risking her life, Tsujimori flew toward Godzilla at full speed, allowing the Dimension Tide to lock onto her and fire on Godzilla in the process. She managed to eject from the Griffon just in time as the Dimension Tide blasted Godzilla, causing the King of the Monsters to suddenly disappear.
