The "Gamera March" (ガメラマーチ,   Gamera Māchi) is a theme song for Gamera introduced in Gamera vs. Viras and subsequently heard in Gamera vs. Guiron, Gamera vs. Jiger, and Gamera vs. Zigra. It succeeded the "Song of Gamera" introduced in Gamera vs. Gyaos. The song was famously parodied in episode 312 of the movie-mocking television series Mystery Science Theater 3000. An instrumental version is used as the end credits song for the final episode of GAMERA -Rebirth-.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 version

Gamera! Gamera!
Gamera is really neat!
Gamera is filled with meat!
We've been eating Gamera!
Shell!
Teeth!
Eyes!
Flames!
Claws!
Breath!
Scales!
Fun!!
Dr. Forrester is kind of a jerk,
And Frank is really dumb, too
We have to take part in these lame experiments
But do we complain?
No!
No!
Yes!
Huh?
So we hi-keeba all over the place
And talk of a thousand wonderful days
Gamera is really sweet!
He is filled with turtle meat!
Now we have commercial sign!

Trivia

  • The song's three verses reference Barugon, Gyaos, and Viras, in order, respectively.
  • The "Daiei Children's Chorus" (大映児童合唱団,   Daiei Jidō Gasshōdan) was a group of children who were "randomly gathered from neighborhood".[1]
  • Noriaki Yuasa wanted the song to be used in the 1995 film Gamera the Guardian of the Universe,[2] and one of the early scripts for the film included the song at the climax.[3]
  • In The Great Yokai War: Guardians Anecdote: Heian Hundred Demon Tales (妖怪大戦争ガーディアンズ外伝 平安百鬼譚,   Yōkai Daisensō: Gādianzu Gaiden: Heian Hyakkitan), a spin-off novelization of The Great Yokai War: Guardians[4] which gives the Black Tortoise (玄武,   Genbu) similar abilities to Gamera,[5][6] various yokai in Kyoto praised her by singing a modified version of the "Gamera March" which incorporated lyrics from the "Song of Gamera." This scene also references "The Myth" and the GeGeGe no Kitarō theme song, as lyrics of the former were inserted to describe the relationship between Gamera and yokai and humans, and the tumult by yokai in the scene is described as a "sports festival in the graveyard at night."[7]
