History

Reiwa era

Shin Godzilla

In a last ditch effort to prevent Tokyo from becoming collateral damaged to nuclear bomb the United States was planning to drop on Godzilla, Rando Yaguchi's team convinced the U.S. military and JSDF to work together in one final joint attack before the nuclear weapon would be used, code-named Operation Yashiori. The second phase would use UAV drones, both MQ-1 Predators and MQ-9 Reapers. Armed with several missiles and bombs, the drones tricked Godzilla into wasting his energy by firing his energy rays at the missiles, bombs and drones just as he did when fighting the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bombers, the creature having become too paranoid of any munitions after it's painful experience with the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP). By the 5th sortie Godzilla was running low on energy, resulting in all the 5th wave munitions hitting him. Despite the munitions doing little to no harm on the creature, Godzilla would continue to waste his energy reserves destroying the 5th and 6th sortie, still paranoid that more powerful weapons that could hurt it would be used. Although Godzilla destroyed all 6 sorties, the plan worked, resulting in most of his energy being used up and allowing phase three to begin.

The MQ-1 Predator is fitted with the Multi-Spectral Targeting System.[1]

Hellfire missiles

The MQ-1 Predator can be armed with two AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles.[1]

Trivia

  • Although the Predator resembles its successor, the MQ-9 Reaper, there are some key differences. While both have three tail fins, all three on the MQ-1 Predator point downwards, with one pointing straight down and the other two down at an angle; only one tail fin on the MQ-9 Reaper points straight down with the other two pointing up at a vertical angle.
  • The MQ-1 Predator can also be armed with AIM-92 Stinger missiles, or AGM-176 Griffin missiles though neither of these were used in the film Shin Godzilla.[1]
