The Giant Armadillo is a giant mammal monster who appears in episode 10 of the second season of Godzilla: The Series, entitled "Area 51."

Design

The Giant Armadillo has a bulky dark gray body with light gray armor which has four spikes and gray spots on it. It has four legs with four claws on each foot and a forked tail with one spike at the end of each tip of the tail. Its head has two yellow eyes, four spikes at the top of its head, and a mouth with five teeth, two on top of the mouth and three on the bottom jaw, and two spikes on its lower jaw.

Origins

The Giant Armadillo is one of the many mutations that was created by underground nuclear testing in Area 51.

History

Godzilla: The Series

"Area 51"

The Giant Armadillo was a mutation caused by nuclear testing at Area 51 in the 1950s. It burrowed out of its enclosure and began to run amok inside the walls of Area 51 and was mistaken for an alien spacecraft by two trespassers. This encounter made it onto TV, and attracted the attention of H.E.A.T., who came to help the military with its mutation problem. It proved a challenge for them, as it destroyed their Jeep and began to charge after them. They then formulated a plan to entangle it in the root system of a giant mesquite plant, also created by the nuclear tests, and were successful. The Giant Armadillo was then transported back into its enclosure.

Abilities

Burrowing

The Giant Armadillo is able to burrow deep into the ground.

Armor

The Giant Armadillo can curl into a ball to expose only its tough armor, which is strong enough to negate the effects of electrical weapons.

Tail

When the Giant Armadillo slams its tail into the ground, it is strong enough to knock people off their feet.

Jumping

Despite its size, the Giant Armadillo can jump notable distances.

Weaknesses

The Giant Armadillo's skin is vulnerable to attacks from electrical weapons, and it was easily restrained after it tangled itself up while running through large mesquite roots.
