The Giant Black Widow (巨大ブラックウィドウ,   Kyodai Burakku Uidō) is a spider kaiju created by Hanna-Barbera that appeared in the 1979 Godzilla episode, "Valley of the Giants."

History

The Giant Black Widow lived in the Valley of Giants, where it preyed on the monsters that lived there, and the Calico crew found it when they were in the valley. The crew called Godzilla jut as it was going to eat them, and Godzilla overpowered the black widow, forcing it to retreat. Godzilla roamed the valley, and the Giant Black Widow stalked Godzilla, jumping onto his back and biting him when Captain Majors tried calling Godzilla to fight Giant Bees living in the valley.

Godzilla was poisoned by the bite and fell unconscious, being cocooned shortly after. Soon afterwards, the Calico crew found Godzilla in the cocoon, and Godzooky was trapped by a giant spider web. As the Giant Black Widow was about to eat Godzooky, Godzooky called Godzilla in a struggle and Godzilla managed to get out of the cocoon. Godzilla used his eye beams to burn the webs and save Godzooky, and then started to fight the giant widow. Godzilla accidentally sent the giant widow into beams of light that overgrew all the animals, making the spider twice as tall and twice as strong. The giant widow tackled Godzilla, but Godzilla grabbed one of its legs and put it close to the spider's fangs. The Giant Black Widow bit itself accidentally, and then fell to its web.

Abilities

  • The Giant Black Widow can deliver a painfully venomous bite, capable of knocking foes unconcious.
  • The Giant Black Widow can produce webs from its abdomen. These webs are stronger than steel and can be used to quickly cocoon prey.
  • The Giant Black Widow has snapping jaws which can chew through wood, helped by acidic saliva.
