Do not confuse with the Giant Bees from the Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon.

The Giant Mutant Bees are giant insect monsters who first appear in episode 9 of Godzilla: The Series, "Hive."

Design

The Worker Bees have wasp-like bodies. Their brown thoraxes have six legs with one claw on each leg, four wings, and yellow bumps. Their abdomens are yellow and black with a huge stinger. Their heads have two large antennae, black compound eyes, and two large tusks.

The Queen Bee is much larger than the Worker Bees. The brown thorax of the Queen Bee has four wings and six legs, four with three claws, and two larger legs with two claws. Her enormous yellow and black abdomen has patches of hair on the sides along with one large stinger with three spikes above it that gradually get smaller. Her head has two antennae, red compound eyes, a beak-like mouth, and four large tusks.

Origin

The colony of Giant Mutant Bees developed on an island that was home to a radioactive volcano, whose eruptions and emissions of irradiated volcanic ash mutated the pollen in the plants that grew from it. The Bees then processed that pollen, and were mutated because of it.

History

Godzilla: The Series

"Hive"

After a volcano erupted on the popular island resort Santa Marta, a bizarre new ecosystem was created from the irradiated lava, prompting H.E.A.T. to travel to the island to investigate. While Randy Hernandez and Nick Tatopoulos fought mutant carnivorous plants, Monique Dupre and Mendel Craven found a beehive filled with Giant Mutant Bees. The whole team was then attacked by the Worker Bees while Godzilla arrived and battled the Queen Bee, driving her out of the hive. Despite assistance from her workers and the killer plant life, Godzilla managed to stay standing. As Godzilla and the Queen Bee fought, the island's volcano began to erupt, opening a rift in the earth that both monsters fell into. The two monsters continued their battle as the rift began to fill up with lava. The Queen Bee almost managed to throw Godzilla into the lava, but as it tried to flee Godzilla used his atomic breath to drop rocks onto the escaping Queen Bee, which was presumably left to die in the ensuing eruption.

"Monster Wars: Part 1"

The Queen Bee somehow survived and was called from wherever it had been to the Leviathan Aliens' Site Omega, where they began to put into effect their plan to use the monsters to dominate Earth.

"Monster Wars: Part 2"

The Queen Bee remained on the island for some time before discovering Godzilla had arrived. She, along with King Cobra, El Gusano Gigante, and the Huge Mutant Rat then tried to get revenge on him for their defeats, but they were stopped by Leviathan Alien command before being sent out to cause destruction in the world. The Queen Bee was sent to Moscow along with El Gusano Gigante.

"Monster Wars: Part 3"

After being freed from the Leviathan Aliens' control by H.E.A.T. deactivating their mind control beacon, the Queen Bee turned on her former masters, and was shot down over Moscow.

Abilities

Projectile stingers

While the Worker Bees were only able to launch one stinger at a time, the Queen Bee could launch multiple stingers at a time and at a very quick rate, much like a machine gun. In the Godzilla: The Series video game, all the Giant Mutant Bees could fire three stingers before flying away.

Sound wave emission

In the Godzilla: The Series video game, the Queen Bee was capable of emitting damaging sound waves.

Weaknesses

The Worker Bees were easily held back with a fire hose. Since the Queen Bee controlled the Worker Bees, after Mendel Craven had N.I.G.E.L. release smoke that made the Queen Bee drowsy, the Worker Bees lost control and began flying into walls. The Queen Bee was easily taken out after having boulders fall on her that Godzilla caused by blasting the rock walls with his atomic breath.

Video games

Godzilla: The Series

Native to a heavily irradiated mutant ecosystem, a colony of gigantic mutant bees inhabited an island far away from New York. One day, H.E.A.T. arrived to study the island, and the drones were sent out to attack Godzilla. The drones shot multiple projectile stingers at him, and the queen blasted him with sonic attacks, and summoned drones to attack him, but she was driven off once and sent more drones to attack him before attacking him with stinger shots as drones attacked as well, However, she was not tough enough to best Godzilla, and it is implied that the erupting volcano, along with her battle with Godzilla, brought about the end of the so-called "killer bees".
