The series was first announced by SciFi Japan on May 18, 2016. Its first issue was released in August, one month after the closure of IDW's previous miniseries, Godzilla: Oblivion. As of 2019, Godzilla: Rage Across Time is the last new Godzilla comic published by IDW, as no new Godzilla comics from IDW have been published or announced since the series ended.
Godzilla: Rage Across Time will be released as a translated collected volume in Japan at the end of May 2019 by Phase 6, who previously released Godzilla: Rulers of Earth in Japan.
