Godzilla Filius (ゴジラ・フィリウス Gojira Firiusu)[1] is a Godzilla-spawned kaiju that appeared in the 2017 Godzilla film, GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters.
Name
Godzilla Filius' name comes from Godzilla and filius, the Latin word for "son."
Design
Godzilla Filius looks completely identical to how Godzilla appeared when he first emerged in 2030.
Origins
Godzilla Filius is a creature spawned by cells that divided from Godzilla, much like the Servum. Unlike the Servum, these cells eventually grew into a second Godzilla.
History
Post-Millennium Series
GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters
When the Aratrum returned to Earth to retake the planet from Godzilla and discovered that 20,000 years had passed, its crew was attacked by a swarm of Servum. While retreating, they encountered Godzilla Filius, believing him to be Godzilla himself. Haruo Sakaki enacted his plan to defeat Godzilla by disabling his electromagnetic field, and this plan was successful in killing Filius. However, upon analyzing Filius the Aratrum's scientists determined that it was identical to Godzilla from 2030, something highly unlikely given Godzilla's capacity to evolve and the amount of time that had passed. Their fears were confirmed when the real Godzilla emerged from a mountain and attacked.
Abilities
Electromagnetic Charge
Like Godzilla, Filius can produce an electromagnetic charge that creates a shield capable of defending him from damage.
Particle Beam
Filius uses his electromagnetic charge to produce a powerful charged particle beam which he can fire from his mouth and strike targets.
Weaknesses
Filius is vulnerable if his electromagnetic shield is disabled, and humanity used this method to kill him.

Trivia
- Godzilla Filius' origin, in that he was created from Godzilla's cells, is similar to a form of reproduction used by a variety of different species of real-world plants, which are able to create duplicates of themselves through a process called vegetative propagation.
