"The Greedy Yokai"

Kotaro Ushiwaka and his companions Nyudo and Uragira came upon the Greedy Yokai as he was sobbing on the side of the road. When the trio asked him what was wrong, he told them that his mother had fallen ill. After Kotaro offered the yokai a coin as a consolation, Nyudo took out his wallet to provide money of his own, but found that it was empty. Uragira poked fun at Nyudo, before handing the Greedy Yokai a bag of treasure. They continued on their way down the path, but Nyudo realized that he left his club behind and raced back to look for it. When he arrived, he saw the Greedy Yokai attempting to hang himself and Coonjo rushing to his aid. Kotaro and Uragira followed close behind, and witnessed Coonjo hand more money to the yokai. Realizing that the yokai was simply suckering people into giving him their money, Nyudo and Uragira presented him with a fake 1,000-ryō chest. The yokai took the bait, but tripped as he was walking away, dropping the box and revealing that it had been filled with stones. As Nyudo and Uragira laughed at him, the yokai stood back up and began to flee, but the pair chased after him. The Greedy Yokai managed to run headfirst into his own noose, becoming stuck. After Uragira took his money back, Kotaro came along and cut the rope from around the yokai's neck, causing him to fall to the ground unharmed.
