Ikkakuki ( (いっ) (かく) (), lit. One-Horned Demon) is a yokai who first appeared in episode 7 of the 1974 Toho tokusatsu series, Go! Kotaro Ushiwaka, entitled "Ikkakuki."

Name

Ikkakuki's Japanese name literally translates to "one-horned demon," aptly describing the yokai.

Development

Ikkakuki reuses the head of the four-eyed minions of Coonjo which appear in episodes 2 and 3, though with its bottom set of eyes removed, its horn shortened, and fangs and teeth added to its mouth.

Design

Ikkakuki has a large dark green head with two upturned eyes, short black hair, a red upper lip, fangs and teeth, and a single horn. He wears a similarly colored chest garment and finned gloves over top a yellow-green body suit, and does not appear to wear shoes.

"Ikkakuki"

Ikkakuki was befriended by Coonjo when she fed the yokai a splash of sake. As Kotaro Ushiwaka and Uragira were traveling through a field, they were halted by Ikkakuki who challenged Kotaro to battle. Ikkakuki began to swing his massive club at Kotaro, who was able to jump out of the way each time, and retaliated with a slash from his naginata. The naginata connected with Ikkakuki's club, however, sending it flying through the air and leaving Kotaro disarmed. Kotaro managed to wrestle the demon to the ground, but was soon caught in a chokehold. Luckily, Kotaro's naginata landed on Nyudo who had been sleeping a short distance away, awakening him and prompting him to investigate. When Nyudo arrived, clutching his flask of sake, Ikkakuki took notice and dropped Kotaro to try to steal it. Nyudo attempted to fight back, but fell to the ground and was jumped on by Ikkakuki. Kotaro returned to his feet and kicked Ikkakuki off of Nyudo before slashing the flask in half with his naginata. Kotaro and Ikkakuki then charged at one another, the former managing to slice Ikkakuki's horn, killing him.

Abilities

Ikkakuki is defeated by having his horn sliced off

Spiked club

Ikkakuki wields a large spiked club and prefers to fight by swinging it in wide arcs. It was shown to be solid enough to send Kotaro's naginata flying through the air when he attempted to hit it.

Weaknesses

Ikkakuki has an obsession for sake, and stopped fighting Kotaro entirely just to try to steal Nyudo's canteen of it. Ikkakuki was ultimately defeated by having the horn atop his head sliced off.
