Jiro Shirasaki (白崎 治郎 Shirasaki Jirō) is a Japanese art director and modeler. He worked as an assistant under Yasuyuki Inoue on a number of Toho's tokusatsu productions between the 1960s and 70s.
Recommended the job by a friend,[2] Shirasaki joined Toho part-time while attending the Tama Art University,[1]:80 after having performed with his band at Toho Studios' club.[2] Shirasaki worked on his first film, Mothra, in 1961,[2] and was officially hired to Eiji Tsuburaya's special effects unit in April of the following year.[1]:80 Following Inoue's departure from the company in 1971, Shirasaki was responsible for refurbishing the body of King Ghidorah's suit for Godzilla vs. Gigan in 1972.[1]:109 He, alongside modeler Nobuyuki Yasumaru, also made at least one guest appearance as a panelist on the 1971 daytime television series, Chibikko Special.[3]
