Kayoco Anne Patterson (カヨコ・アン・パタースン is the Special Envoy for the President of the Kayoko An Patāsun )United States and of the main protagonists in Shin Godzilla. She is dedicated to solving the mystery of Goro Maki and stopping Godzilla before the United States is forced to drop a nuke on her grandmother's homeland.
Overview
A vivacious and fashionable woman, her goal is to be President of the United States before her forties. She is a third generation American, with her grandmother hailing from Japan. She prefers not to use formal tone when speaking with the Giant Unidentified Creature Emergency Disaster Countermeasure team and will occasionally speak in English.
History
Reiwa series
Shin Godzilla
After Godzilla arives on shore the first time, she is sent by the United States to uncover the whereabouts of Goro Maki. Working with Rando Yaguchi, she is able to recover an envelop containing Goro Maki's analysis of Godzilla's chemical make-up. In exchange she delivered to the team the Department of Energy's involvement with Godzilla as well as reveal the name given to it by Goro Maki. When Godzilla resurfaces, she and the rest of the American delegation are forced to retreat from Tokyo. Initially she is able to negotiate a research partnership between Japan and the United States. However when President Ross goes ahead to launch a nuke on Godzilla, she decides to see Operation Yashiori through and stay behind. She is able to loan the team some drones to use in the operation. With the operation a success, she informs Yaguchi that if Godzilla reawakens, the countdown will continue.
Trivia
- According to her bio page from the U.S. Department of State printed in the movie, she graduated Harvard at 15, has a bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science, and also graduated from Harvard Law.
