Godzilla vs. Destoroyah

Dr. Kensaku Ijuin had been working on a new experiment by the time of Godzilla's meltdown in 1996, and developed a chemical that he claimed could be used in many fields, dubbing it as Micro-Oxygen. Emiko Yamane learned of this invention after he broadcasted his discovery on television, and told her nephew Kenkichi and niece Yukari to ask the doctor to stop the research, as his chemical was dangerously similar to the Oxygen Destroyer that was used to kill the original Godzilla in 1954. Kensaku admitted he had consulted some of the late Dr. Daisuke Serizawa's surviving scientific work for his research, but he never intended to recreate the Oxygen Destroyer using Micro-Oxygen. He had performed analysis on seafloor soil samples taken from where Serizawa's device had been used at the bottom of Tokyo Bay, which revealed to him the horrifying truth that had the device been activated on dry land it could have wiped out all life in Tokyo. However, Kenichi and Yukari instead asked Dr. Ijuin to develop another Oxygen Destroyer, knowing that it might be their only chance to destroy Godzilla before he destroyed Japan with his coming nuclear meltdown.

After a group of Juvenile Destoroyahs began attacking the Tokyo Telecom Center, Ijuin arrived on scene with a S.W.A.T. team. After rescuing Yukari from the car that a young Destoroyah had cornered her in, they escaped to safety as the S.W.A.T. team killed the monster.

Upon learning of the fact that Destoroyah came about as a result of the Oxygen Destroyer's detonation in 1954, the doctor intended to shelve his Micro-Oxygen research for good. Conducting tests in the hopes to find the monster's weakness, he discovered that Micro-Oxygen liquefied and broke down at very low temperatures. Dr. Ijuin used this knowledge to consult the JSDF and G-Force about using freezing weapons as a means of combating the growing Destoroyah. Consulting the military officials on the ground and seeing the destructive power of the Aggregate Destoroyah, Ijuin gave the creature its name by dubbing it the living incarnation of the Oxygen Destroyer. Later, he used a helicopter and flew to Tokyo with Yukari, with them both observing the battle between Godzilla, Godzilla Junior, and Destoroyah. After rescuing Miki Saegusa and Meru Ozawa after their own helicopter was destroyed by Destoroyah, they all observed Godzilla's meltdown.

Dr. Ijuin was a Japanese scientist leading a team of researchers at the abandoned former Hedorah Research Laboratory in North America attempting to develop a chemical weapon capable of killing Godzilla. They were studying a microorganism discovered on the floor of Tokyo Bay designated "J-MO7," which was believed to be connected to the Oxygen Destroyer, a chemical weapon created by Dr. Serizawa according to an urban legend. Kane Hilter, a biologist who had worked on Project Hedorah under Yang Hong Che and the originator of the Oxygen Destroyer legend, joined Ijuin and his colleagues in their study of J-MO7. However, J-MO7 eventually evolved into a larger aggregate form and killed all of the researchers at the facility.
