Kobun Shizuno (静野孔文,   Shizuno Kobun) is a Japanese animation director. He is a co-director of the GODZILLA anime trilogy, along with Hiroyuki Seshita.

Kobun Shizuno was born in 1972 and has worked at Golden Creative (Beijing) and kry Inc. He began directing in 2004 with the TV anime Detective Conan (名探偵コナン, Meitantei Konan), and was selected as supervising director for the 2005 American animated series G.I. Joe Sigma 6. Has also worked in directorial roles on Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版: 序, Evangerion Shin Gekijoo-ban: Jo, 2007), Fist of the North Star: The Legends of the True Savior: Legend of Toki (真救世主伝説 北斗の拳 トキ伝, Shin Kyuuseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken Toki Den, 2009), Negima! Master Negi Master: Another World (魔法先生ネギま！もうひとつの世界, Mahoo Sensei Negima: Mo Hitotsu no Sekai, 2009-2010), the TV series Knights of Sidonia, and the Detective Conan series of feature films (2011-2016).

Trivia

• Prior to directing GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters, the only Godzilla films Shizuno had seen were the 2014 American film and Shin Godzilla. His co-director, Hiroyuki Seshita, himself a longtime Godzilla fan, insisted on making the anime films able to appeal to those who had never seen a Godzilla film before and insisted that Shizuno not watch the rest of the Godzilla films before working on the trilogy.
