Plot

After five days on Skull Island, things are not looking up for the Taguatu people. They are still faced with attacks from the monsters on the island, and more and more Kong never return from supply missions into the jungle. The Storyteller Sani, Ewata's cousin, attempted to uncover the truth behind K'reti's murder, but found that no-one had witnessed it. Ewata then found a blood trail from a citizen dragged off by monsters in the night and gathered a group of humans and Kong to follow it to its source to slay the monsters therein. Faced with devastating odds, Ewata discovers a Triceratops skeleton, and has Valla use its skull as a weapon against the onslaught. After her victory, Valla sits down to rest, much to the hunting party's dismay. Being confronted with the limitations of the Kong, the party stops for a rest, during which, Usana admits to Ewata that she knew that K'reti loved her and considered their marriage a political necessity, but questioned her loyalty to the crown. Ewata assures her that she has never been loyal to the crown, but to the people whom she wished to see securely established in their new home before she questions her loyalty. During this exchange, the hunters discovered that Monsters did not go where certain flowers grew, and were able to create a type of repellent from their essence. After another monster attack, Ewata threw up on the around, causing the rest of the party to assume she was pregnant. She denies it, but Usana overheard and told her father the Shaman, who begins to create a mixture that would attract the monsters rather than repel them, despite Usana's misgivings about harming Ewata's child. The Kong, Ewata, and another trainer went to explore a mountain cave, but the monsters had set a trap for the hunters, and the two headed monster Gaw attacks them.
