This page is a list of minor Toho-created monsters. This is defined as any kaiju, kaijin or animals whose roles generally have little overall relevance in the media they are featured in, and are not trademarked (or otherwise prominently featured) characters. As a result, for example, this page doesn't include characters such as Meganulon/Meganula, Fairy Mothra, Garu Garu, Barem, and Ghogo, who are all trademarked.

History

The Maneater appears when Ichiro Miki walks in front of it, distracted by watching Minilla trying to fire atomic breath in front of Godzilla but failing. The Maneater sneakily grabs Ichiro, puts him up to his body, and covers his mouth so he can't talk. Ichiro then wakes up from his dream and realizes that he was being kidnapped by the robbers who were hiding out on the same place he was in.

  • The Maneater's Japanese name, Hitokui Shokubutsu, literally translates to "man-eating plant," referencing how it grabbed Ichiro Miki and tried to eat him. A 2008 Cast ornament of the creature gives it the full name Man-Eating Plant of Dream Monster Island (夢の怪獣島の人食い植物,   Yume no Kaijū-tō no Hitokui Shokubutsu).

Smog Factory
(公害工場,   Kōgai Kōjō)
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
History

During one of the film's animated segments, the Smog Factory makes an appearance, grabbing up bits and pieces from the environment around it and converting it into smog. Hedorah soon appears and eats the smog being produced, sitting on top of the factory and consuming it whole. Once the Smog Factory was completely consumed, Hedorah quickly flew away.

Abilities
  • Claws: It has two giant mechanical claws, which it uses to grab up plants and other parts of the environment nearby it.
  • Producing Smog: It creates great quantities of smog, big enough in size that it attracted Hedorah towards it.
