The following day, American troops battling a Japanese garrison on Lagos Island were attacked by a [[Godzillasaurus]]. Once the dinosaur reached the beach, Spielberg relayed the order for naval forces to open fire on him. Though badly injured, the dinosaur managed to kill the rest of the landing party before retreating into the jungle. While Spielberg wanted to continue the operation, his commanding officer ordered the U.S. to withdraw, believing the Godzillasaurus would soon do their job for them.

Major Spielberg (スピルバーグ少佐,   Supirubāgu Shōsa) is a U.S. military officer who appears in the 1991 Godzilla film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. He is implied to be the father of real-life filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Despite this, the 1991 book Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah Monster Complete Works refers to him as スピルバーグ軍曹 (Supirubāgu Gunsō), which would translate to "Sergeant Spielberg."[1]
