Sadao Iizuka (飯塚 定雄,   Īzuka Sadao), nicknamed Den-san (デンさん), is a Japanese artist, animator, optical photographer, and author. His long career began in 1954, when he joined Toho Studios to work in the special effects art department for Godzilla under the supervision of Akira Watanabe, and continues to this day with the film Shin Ultraman. Iizuka worked on almost every Toho tokusatsu production until 1972, when he, Koichi Takano, and Minoru Nakano departed Toho to establish their own special effects company, Den Film Effects (デン・フィルム・エフェクト,   Den Firumu Efekuto). The company would go on to work on a number of films and television series from Toei, Toho, Tsuburaya Productions, and Daiei.
