The attempt to destroy the flower failed, and the situation got only more dire as it was revealed that this flower would produce an explosion that would destroy Sapporo, killing everyone within the city. Luckily, [[Gamera]] appeared just in time to stop the flower from launching the pod, destroying the plant before it could detonate with blasts from his plasma fireballs. Brought into a rage, the Soldier Legion swarmed Gamera, attempting to kill him. Sapporo (札幌) is the capital of Hokkaido Prefecture and currently the fifth-largest city in Japan. It is famous for having hosted the first Winter Olympics outside Europe in 1972, and is also well-known for its picturesque surroundings. Sapporo is featured in the 1991 Godzilla film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, and briefly in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. Additionally, it was featured in the 1996 Gamera film Gamera 2: Attack of Legion.

Heisei era
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
After defeating King Ghidorah and the Futurians, Godzilla began rampaging through Hokkaido, eventually reaching the city of Sapporo. Godzilla approached the Sapporo TV Tower, only to be confronted by two MBT-MB92 Maser Cannons under the command of the JSDF.
