It is written by Arvid Nelson and illustrated by Mohammad Yazid, credited as "Zid." A paperback collecting all four issues was released on December 12, 2017. The comic chronicles an off-the-books Monarch return expedition to Skull Island in 1995 led by Houston Brooks' son Aaron. When Aaron and his team become stranded on the island, they make contact with the Iwi tribe and learn about Kong's past while facing the various dangerous creatures that inhabit the island. It was followed by a sequel comic, Kingdom Kong, in 2021 to tie in with Godzilla vs. Kong, with Zid returning as the artist. Legendary Comics reprinted it with Godzilla: Aftershock in Monsterverse Titanthology Vol 1 on May 11, 2021, and once again reprinted it along with all other Monsterverse graphic novels from Godzilla: Awakening to Kingdom Kong in Legends of the Monsterverse: The Omnibus on March 5, 2024.[1] |
