A strange, dead monster[1] appears in the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con teaser trailer for the 2014 Legendary Pictures film, Godzilla.
Name
The monster has no official name, though some fans call it Vishnu, due to Robert Oppenheimer's narration saying "Vishnu takes on his multi-armed form" as the camera pans over the monster's corpse. Another popular fan name is Talaghan, translating to "fallen" in Korean, though this name originated as a hoax on fan sites and has never been used in any official capacity. In Godzilla: The Art of Destruction by Mark Cotta Vaz, it is referred to simply as "a strange, dead monster."[1]
Design
The monster possesses six visible legs, with a long, apparently segmented body with ridges on its back, somewhat resembling a tardigrade. Its feet have four long fingers each. Its body shape and multiple legs grant it some possibly coincidental resemblance to Rokmutul, an unused enemy for Godzilla designed early into development of the 2014 film.
