The Mighty Peking Man (猩猩王,   Xīngxīng Wáng, lit. Orangutan King) is a 1977 Hong Kong special effects monster film produced by Shaw Brothers Studio. It was released to Hong Kong theaters on August 11, 1977 and American theaters in March 1980. The film was initially intended to feature King Kong, and was to be released to capitalize on the then-recent De Laurentiis King Kong, but due to rights issues the company settled on using the Peking Man instead.[1]
