The Sphinx (ザ·スフィンクス,   Za Sufinkusu) is a sphinx kaiju created by Atari, Pipeworks and Toho that first appeared in the 2007 Godzilla video game, Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash.

Design

The Sphinx is, in reality, the monument in Egypt. Unlike the real-word version, this Sphinx is frowning and has colors, a large collapsed section in its chest, and its forearms are ripped off, although still intact. The Sphinx's head and forearms float by themselves, most likely due to the crystal energy.

Origins

During the crystal incursion, the Sphinx became alive via the strange power of the crystals. This is consistent with the other two crystal kaiju, Obsidius and Krystalak.

Abilities

The Sphinx has the ability to unleash a large purple laser from his forehead. It can also shoot multiple claw missiles (similar to the Showa Mechagodzilla) and can throw boulders. The Sphinx is also able to swipe from afar with its floating paws and has great physical strength, despite being an ancient monument.
