Your edits aren't up to the standard the site requires. The goal isn't to do as many edits as quickly as possible, it's to keep up the general appearance of the rest of the site. Continuing to sloppily edit just for the sake of editing is causing errors that are breaking the page's code.

The page is locked because the admins had to go in and manually fix all those errors. They couldn't leave the page unprotected because you guys are editing so fast and so frequently that you're canceling out the admins' work.
