I actually considered having him replace Barnes (the guy who drops the F-Bomb when Ghidorah wakes up) in my version of the story, but I feel like he would kind of be wasted. And it feels odd for him to immediately join Monarch's G-Team after everything he did to get back to his family in 2014. I'll probably just leave his cameo as just that–a cameo.
