Sorry to bother you but, do you know where did these came from? I thought these were lost forever! Specifically the Invasion of the Astros and and the Terror of Godzilla titles. Are they from a TV airing, or a VHS release?

Invasion of the Astros presumably comes from whoever owns this 16mm print: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpEcE8_sB6w

Invasion of the Astro-Monsters is from a Polygram VHS released in the United Kingdom.

Destroy All Monsters is from a Siren DVD released in Australia.

Godzilla on Monster Island is from an American TV broadcast.

Not sure about Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster.

The Terror of Godzilla is from a print owned by a private collector, judging from the head in front.

Thank you so much! Those have been confusing me forever!

One more question: is there any surviving footage from Godzilla vs. The Bionic Monster?

That's a bummer. I've heard rumors that the title was like the Japanese and International versions of the film.

Specifically, GOMI is from a 1994 Sci-Fi Channel recording. Cosmic Monster was taken from an eBay listing for the film's theatrical trailer and anamorphically stretched. The Terror of Godzilla is from an eBay seller: that picture is actually modified from the original image of his 35mm print on a theater screen.

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

Huh, did anyone buy the Cosmic Monster trailer? I can't find it anywhere on YouTube. Also, what eBay listing did the Terror of Godzilla title come from? I have a vague memory of seeing it. Was it a trailer, or the film it's self.

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

Oh, and have you seen any Bionic Monster footage?

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

I haven't seen the Bionic Monster visuals, no. As for the auctions, I don't recall who bought them. The Cosmic Monster trailer was a few years ago. Terror was probably at least a decade ago. It was a 35mm print of the film, not the trailer. I've seen a few 35mm prints of that film on eBay.

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

A decade ago?! I'm a decade old, however I recall seeing that photo on eBay. Could it have been a later listing?

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

Also, how come no one has posted any clips from the Cosmic Monster trailer or Terror of Godzilla? Am I missing something?

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

You couldn't have seen the Terror of Godzilla image pictured here on eBay because I'm fairly certain that picture wasn't in the listing. As I recall, the seller listed his print without any photos. A fellow Godzilla fan emailed the seller to get a picture of the title because no picture of it had yet turned up online. I don't think the seller ever added the picture to the listing. My copy of the photo dates to August 9, 2011; the picture is even older than that, so yes, the listing was in the 2000s decade. It looks like 35mm prints also sold in 2011 and 2012. I'd bet some have sold on eBay even more recently than that. It's not a rare 35mm title.

Theatrical trailers for Godzilla on Monster Island, Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster, and The Terror of Godzilla seem to be somewhat uncommon for some reason. Evidently no one has ever telecined or scanned those trailers, at least not for the public to see.

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

Really? I swear I saw that image on eBay a few years ago!

UltraGoji (talkcontribs)

It was probably another listing then.
