I can explain. ABB said they were dorsal plates, and besides, reptiles don't have fins, but fish do. All fish have fins; they're the only animals that do. No reptile that I know of has fins like a fish. Reptiles have things like flippers, frills, and yes, even plates, but not fins.
What reptile do you know that breathes atomic flame?
They are universally known as dorsal fins in Japanese, and is even what Tomoyuki Tanaka called them. Real-world biology need not apply.
They are called "dorsal fins" in English as well. It's not universally consistent, but it is the most common name used for them in both languages.
