Just want to let you know I was not trying to critique the film here. I was simply trying to explain a plot hole that no one has touched on yet. I get the way the post started out could make it sound like a critique but other than that, what part of the post did you feel was a critique?
The whole passage just seemed like a complaint that Mothra and Battra's motivations were underexplained. I think it's a valid complaint, but we generally don't pick apart the films in that way here. If you found an explanation for their actions in an external source, that would be noteworthy. As it stands, the only place I could see it is Reception, provided you could find a professional review (or a published fan review) to quote.
