Ramayana (ラーマーヤナ,   Rāmāyana) is a Japanese tokusatsu short film produced by Toho during the early 1940s, based on the Hindu legend of the same name.[2] Extremely little is known of the short, due in part to its lack of opening or ending credits; however, it was written by Kohan Kawauchi, who would later create Japan's first television superhero series Moonlight Mask, among numerous other works. Its special effects are also rumoured to have been directed by Eiji Tsuburaya. The film surfaced online after being broadcast on the Japanese specialty channel NECO on August 21, 2003.
