Design

Kong is a large male gorilla, though he is not silverback. His skin is leathery in texture, and is entirely black like his short fur. Most art depicts Kong as brown, but the official colorized version of the film shows him as black with brown eyes. He does not however, represent a gorilla perfectly, as he stands mainly on his hind legs and has longer arms than a proportionate gorilla would have.

Origins

Kong has questionable parentage, but seems to have been born to a deceased Kong, possibly Fer'rah, and a Feral Kong later known as Ghost. After his biological mother seemed to have died, Valla took Kong to the Taguatu village, where he was raised as the pet of the princess K'vanni. They lived peacefully together, much to the annoyance of the wary public, and Kong was eventually kidnapped and used as a test subject in a scheme to turn all of the Kong on the Island into feral beasts. During this time, Kong killed his mother when she and her Deathrunners tried to kill K'vanni. The humans were able to stop the cataclysm, but after being exposed to what the Kong could do, they were all released into the wilds. Kong was taken in by a female Kong, likely Valla, and a male Kong who raised him as their own until they were killed by the gargantuan Deathrunner Gaw.

Kong of Skull Island #7

Kong was born to a feral mother who had abandoned the Tagu-Atu people during an expedition into the wilds of Skull Island. This made him the first Kong to be born out of captivity.

Kong of Skull Island #8

Kong had two names as a child. His mother referred to him as K'hiid, while Valla, a Kong who discovered him later in his infancy, called him K'in. After being discovered by Valla in he and his mother's cave, his mother, later identified as Ghost, swept him away from her and began to attack viciously, scaring Kong away. He was picked up by Pteranodons, who were attacked by Ghost and Valla and dropped in front of anti-Kong conspirators who attempted to kill him. K'in ran to Valla, and she swept him up and ran from Ghost, who pursued viciously and eventually fell into a faulty mine shaft that collapsed under her feet, where she was discovered by Deathrunners and made their new Gaw. Valla took K'in to the Tagu-Atu village where he would be safe with her trainer Ewata behind their wall.

Kong was then raised alongside Ewata's daughter K'vanni, but having not been given a name by any trainer, was simply referred to as Kong. Kong lived an easy life as a royal pet, but political turmoil regarding the Kong and their dangerous potential led K'vanni to investigate a fortification being built by anti-Kong radicals in the jungle, and took Kong with her.

Kong of Skull Island #10

Years beforehand, Kong and K'vanni had been exploring a deserted mine where they were attacked by Deathrunners. Kong was overpowered, but K'vanni left unharmed, but her hair had permanently been turned white. At the fortified citadel, Kong was knocked out with an aromatic trigger like those that had been used in the Kong Fighting pits from the old island. Kong was then put in a pit where the anti-Kong radicals tested a new madness scent trigger on him, which made him edge into madness. A former Kong Trainer named Gret was then pushed into the pit for Kong to kill, but using his expertise with Kong, he managed to teach Kong to gouge a foothold in the wall. This lesson allowed him to escape and kill two of them before escaping and vaulting over the Citadel wall.

Kong of Skull Island #11

The radicals plotted to release the madness scent through the mine tunnels so that it would reach every Kong on the island, particularly the ones guarding the village so that they would be feared and destroyed. After escaping, Kong finds Valla, and the two are found by Ewata, who bids Kong to lead her to where his mother had taken K'vanni while she was offered to her while he was being experimented on. Unfortunately, the madness scent also affected the dinosaurs on the island, and all broke through the citadel walls to attack.

Kong of Skull Island #12

Ewata fastened a cloth with clarity scents over Kong's nose and mouth and rode him out of the fray and to where his mother had taken the princess. Kong rushes in to save his friend, and fights off the Deathrunners his mother sent at him before tackling her onto a skeleton that impaled and killed her. After the pipes delivering the scents had been destroyed by loyalists, K'vanni assumed the role of Queen, and released all Kong into the wild where they would be treated with godly reverence.
