The King is an otherwise-unnamed member of the Kong species, and the de facto Kong of the 2017 BOOM! Studios crossover comic series Kong on the Planet of the Apes. He lived on Skull Island in the 40th century, and had the distinction of being the "endling", or last living member of his species. He was created by series writer Ryan Ferrier and artist Carlos Magno.
Design
The last Kong appears as a standard member of his species, and is a giant ape with dark skin and fur and light-colored eyes. Beginning with issue 4, after his capture by the Simians, cover artwork by Mike Huddleston consistently depicts him with a prominent scar on his right cheek.
Origins
The King was worshiped by the human population of Skull Island alongside the Queen. That said, his relationship to her is unknown.

As many smaller apes arrived on Skull Island for the first time, Kong uprooted a tree and roared on a cliffside.
Return of the King
When drums beat out and offerings were gathered, the King arrived at the Tagatu village to receive them. He enjoyed the gathered fruit until he spotted three Simian visitors from beyond the island, looking like a cross between himself and his human subjects. In confusion and awe he reached out a finger to touch the outstretched hand of Dr. Zaius.
