The King of the Monsters (talkcontribs)

Please stop pointlessly removing the word "the" en masse from every mention of "the Earth." It is not incorrect to use an article when referring to Earth, and removing all instances of this is completely pointless.

Burton Helzer's flashback

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

My edit summary disappeared, so I'll restate it here: I've gone through Godzilla, King of the Monsters #0 and Godzilla: Age of Monsters twice now, and I don't see any difference between them besides the latter being in black and white. What differences have you found?

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

I thought some illustrations had been added to the Godzilla: Age of Monsters version. I seem to remember an introductory full-page picture in the trade paperback that I don't think was in Godzilla, King of the Monsters #0; however, if you say they're the same, that's okay.

Can you please provide images from both of them for me just to make sure? It's been a long time since I've read them. Thanks!

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Here's both versions of the two-page spread:

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

I meant that the full-page picture was one page at the beginning of the flashback scene in Godzilla, Age of Monsters. The flashback scene, IIRC, had slightly different content in both that book and Godzilla, King of the Monsters #0.

Could you please show me the complete flashback scenes from both of them? That way I can see whether they're the same or not. Thanks!

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I would rather not make that many scans. Burden of proof's on you to show how they're different - I went through the entire comic just for the heck of it while making those two images and still didn't see anything. What you're describing would be pretty obvious.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Okay, if you say they're the same, then I'll take your word for it.

Mistake in Category:Toy lines

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Someone needs to fix something in Category:Toy lines. Revoltech needs to be in its own section "R", not in "T".

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Huh?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

I don't know why Revoltech is in the T section it can't be edited I'm sorry.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

What is a T section?

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Under the T section in the alphabetical listing of toy lines, Revoltech is listed under T instead of R.

Les (talkcontribs)

I removed the category from the page... but it didn't actually remove it, and just fixed the alphabetization. Weird bug.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Mabey it's a template on the article with the category?

Les (talkcontribs)

Nevermind, I figured it out. If you put a second parameter in the Category link, it tells the category how to alphabetize it. So on the "The Godzilla Collection" page would put The Godzilla Collection in Category:Toy Lines under the G section (since "Godzilla Collection" starts with G).

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Thanks, Les. I really appreciate this.

List of unmade monsters

Les (talkcontribs)

Why are you edit warring with me? You've been told in the past to stop doing this.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

No, no, you've got it wrong this time. I was trying to fix Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell because the dash over the "e" in Goke is missing in the reference to the film in the List of unmade monsters article and when you click on the article for the film, it keeps on redirecting to the version with the dash. I was trying to get it right.

I don't like being accused of a crime I didn't commit, so I suggest you stay put and stop looking for an argument where there is none. If you want to fix the redirect problem, fine. Just think before you act, if you don't mind.

Les (talkcontribs)

The problem is that your trying to fix the link was making it redirect to nowhere.

Your first edit you changed the link from:

Goké, Body Snatcher from Hell to Gokè, Body Snatcher from Hell

The diacritic should be facing forward, not backwards.

I reverted that, and changed the link to Goké, Body Snatcher from Hell which is what it should be. The page is titled "Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell" without a diacritic, and the text after the vertical bar (|) is what it will display as.

Then later you were adding "(1968)" to the link, which leads nowhere. There is no such page titled "Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968)."

When I undo an edit and correct the link, and am clearly repeatedly reverting your edits, why continue doing the exact same thing? It accomplishes nothing.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Wait a minute! The article does has the year of release on it and it does have a diacritic. Take a look for yourself if you don't believe me.

Les (talkcontribs)

That's called a display title. The |dt= parameter in the infobox is set to "Goké, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968)." The actual title of the article that you link to can be seen in the page URL at the top of your browser. The page is actually titled "Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell." No year, no diacritic.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Okay, now it's fixed. The problem was when I clicked on the link the first time, then it redirected. I thought there was a mix-up and tried to fix it. Thanks for solving that mystery.

Les (talkcontribs)

No worries. But please be mindful of edit warring - if you ever have a question about why something was reverted, feel free to ask. Repeatedly changing it back is just going to end in the page getting locked.

Les (talkcontribs)

I ask that you please stop removing contractions from pages. They are perfectly acceptable, and frankly removing them can make some sentences sound stiff.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Is there a source that Kat Kong is a short hair cat???

Les (talkcontribs)

Cat breeds are not as varied as with dogs. "Domestic short-hair" just means a cat of no particular breed that has short fur.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

I know that, that's what I figured Blueberry was. If I'm wrong, however, please tell me and I'll gladly fix it.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

hey its hard to navigate the minor monsters list im trying to add a gallery and even a roar for a monster on there i need some help.

Zillaman98 (talkcontribs)

Id also like some help with a sandbox or few.

Removal of reference: why?

4
Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

I put in a reference to The War of the Gargantuas that seems to have been removed. I appreciate that another article on the subject I discovered has been found, but why hasn't the article I found been kept in? That doesn't seem right.

Les (talkcontribs)

The Rue Morgue source is the original Dougherty interview. The ComicBook.com article is a report of Gormaru Island's report of the Rue Morgue interview... very roundabout citation.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Okay, that explains it. Thanks! Sorry for all the trouble.

Les (talkcontribs)

No problem - I just ask that you pay attention to what edits are reverted so that we are not edit-warring. I locked the War of the Gargantuas page temporarily because it was getting to be counterproductive. "Standalone" is preferred over "stand-alone" and short words like "in" and "the" should not be capitalized in the names of works. If you have questions about why things are reverted, contacting one of us is preferred over these back-and-forths.

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

One question: where does Voyage into Space (1970) go on this list?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

I think the film and show are Tokupedia territory, but it's fine to put them on the list of select AIP releases.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Since it's from Toei, which is not a relevant studio, I don't think it belongs here.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

The footage originated from Toei but the film was produced by American International (the film has no Japanese equivalent). I agree that it doesn't deserve a page of its own here, but not for the same reason. Covering here would mean having to cover Johnny Sokko, which ain't gonna happen.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

Before asking these questions, be sure to look at people's sandbox pages.

Les (talkcontribs)

This literally has no relevance to what's being asked. Stop backseat modding.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)
Les (talkcontribs)

He wasn't talking about adding the movie to the site, he asked where it should go on the AIP page's filmography.

Kaiju No. 14 (talkcontribs)

I don't care.

KunshuGoji (talkcontribs)

Any reason why you're being so confrontational about everything? You went from chronic plagiarism to acting like you run the site in a remarkably short amount of time.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

So how are we ordering the films on the AIP page? Chronologically is a bit problematic for a couple reasons:

1. The years that the films were first made available don't always line up with the earliest dates I can find in news archives. This would push at least War of the Monsters, Dagora, and Mushroom People back a year.

2. ^ Those earliest dates aren't necessarily the first broadcast dates, just the earliest ones I can find through available online sources.

I'd suggest listing them alphabetically by the year they were released/first offered.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

That seems best

Daimajin1966 (talkcontribs)

Hey, if I'd known that this subject would stir up such a hornet's nest, I never would've asked the question in the first place.

I beg everyone's pardon.
