Yuri worked for Bridgestone Digital Q, a Television station notorious for making low budget science fiction films. While filming in a mountain village one day, they were nearly chased off the site by an angry politician until Yuri convinces him that having a monster story connected to the site could boost tourism, and they were allowed to stay. Convinced that an earthquake, which had recently hit the area warranted an investigation on account of its moving epicenter, however her boss turned her down as their network was not designed for real news to be broadcast. Upset by this, Yuri went out drinking with her coworkers, and lamented her being a woman as she felt that being a man would get her the respect she needed to make the programs she wanted to. After asking her colleague [[Teruaki Takeda]] to bring her information on mythological monsters, they learned of Being too drunk to get home by herself, Teruaki took her back to her house where her father, [[Taizo Tachibana]] was waiting. They then approached Commander Tachibana with their findings, and attempted to explain that The Guardians were approaching to protect the "homeland of Japan", the land itself, rather than the people or the country, and how Godzilla was formed of the souls of the soldiers in the Pacific War. The Commander waived them off. Shortly afterward, Godzilla and Baragon arose, and began to fight. Yuri was injured while trying to get footage, and was taken to a hospital, and Teruaki left her there for her own good.
