The Large Antarctic Sea Mammal (南極の大海獣 is a Nankyoku no daikaijū)real-life cryptid first spotted by a Japanese research ship in 1958 in Antarctica.

The captain of the Soya nicknamed this creature "Antarctic Godzilla," (南極ゴジラ) as it resembled Godzilla.

On February 13, 1958, at about 7:00 PM, the Japanese research vessel Soya (宗谷) encountered a large creature at Lutzow-Holm Bay.[1]
