Mega Shark
|
Mega Shark is a giant prehistoric shark monster that debuted in the 2009 Asylum film Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.
Design
Mega Shark is a megalodon, an extinct species of shark that is believed by many to have resembled an enormous great white shark.
Origins
Millions of years ago, Mega Shark was frozen off the coast of what would one day be Alaska while in battle with its sworn enemy: a Giant Octopus. It is theorized that their hatred for one another overrode their survival instincts when other species fled the freezing waters, resulting in them being frozen in combat.
History
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
Military experiments with an illegal sonar device caused a pod of whales to crash into an ice wall and dislodge the frozen Giant Octopus and Mega Shark. It quickly reached the open ocean, which it leaped out of to attack a plane passing overhead. Later, it destroyed the United States lead Naval Destroyer. Later, Mega Shark followed a pheromone trail into San Francisco Bay, where the military attempted to destroy it. They were unsuccessful, which lead to it destroying a naval ship and biting a chunk out of the Golden Gate Bridge before disappearing into the open ocean. It later attacked a Russian tanker before chasing a pheromone lure on a submarine into the North Pacific, where it chased a submarine's pheromone lure through an ice trench, and very nearly bit it before being shot at by the Typhoon submarine which was quickly incapacitated by Giant Octopus. The beast began to constrict Mega Shark, and it bit one of its tentacles off before fighting once more, and biting off another. The Giant Octopus then wrapped itself around Mega Shark a third time before both creatures sank to the bottom of the sea.
