Pacific Rim is an upcoming Netflix Original anime adaptation of the 2013 film of the same name which is to be produced by Legendary Entertainment and Polygon Pictures.[1]

Description

Synopsis of the series from the Netflix website:
"As monsters emerge from the sea to attack Earth, humanity fights back using giant robot warriors in this anime adaptation of the blockbuster film."[3]

Development

Deadline broke the news of Pacific Rim on November 7, 2018, reporting that the series would be co-produced by Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson and feature "two siblings — an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister — who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents."[2] A listing for the series was posted to Netflix sometime later, along with an accompanying synopsis.[3]

During the 2019 Los Angeles Project Anime event, Legendary Entertainment's executive vice president of brand development and consumer products, Elie Dekel, revealed that the series would be released in 2020 and was confirmed for at least two seasons. He also confirmed that the series would be produced in partnership with the Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures, who had previously worked on the GODZILLA anime films.[1]

Hope this gets received well enough to get Pacific Rim 3. This franchise ROCKS!!! Pacific Rim's kinda the main movie that got me pulled into the kaiju movie fanbase. That and Godzilla (2014). GODZILLA (1998) didn't exactly do it for me. Probably cuz the design seemed a little off and the thought of him asexually reproducing seemed a bit weird.

(At the time I first watch the latter majority of it, I hadn't really watched any of the other Godzilla films. I did play one of the Atari/Pipeworks games and flipped through a couple of books, but the only kaiju whose names I could even remember, for over 13 years, were Godzilla, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla.)

When I played the game, it was at a friend's house and I didn't know how to play any video games, yet.
